 When I first decided to make the leap from shoulder length hair to a short, styled cut, my always-put-together mom did me a huge favour and booked me an appointment with Donna. Going in to the salon I was a bit nervous about the drastic change I was about to do but Donna put me right at ease. She really listened to what I wanted (she didn’t bat an eye at my vague “sexy librarian” description) and I came out of the salon looking and feeling stylish and, yes, very sexy!

My new look was a huge hit with my friends and family (and husband!) and I’ve been coming to Donna for styles ever since. She’s always fun and relaxing to be around and we’ve had some great times trying out new looks and techniques over the years. I’ve never met someone who knows so much about cutting, colouring and styling, either. She’s always telling me about new techniques that she learned at conferences or classes. Last time I went she put some sassy red highlights in my hair using a new hair-painting technique. They turned out great – it was a perfect colour choice and they really set off my new cut!

Bottom line is that Donna knows how to work with my hair to give me cute cuts that flatter my face. I trust her completely and can’t imagine going to anyone else.

I was lucky to find Donna by searching on the internet for "Ottawa's best hairstylist" one Friday night a couple of years ago. My hair was a mess as my stylist had moved away and I could not find another one that I liked. There were some testimonials about Donna that sounded sincere and something told me that I should give it a try. I liked her right away: she took the time for a good consultation, she really listened to what I wanted and I have had great cuts ever since. Once there was a mixup with my appointment time at the salon, and Donna stayed late to do both my highlights and cut herself, as the colourist had left for the day. I really appreciated that as I have a pretty tight schedule. She has a great sense of humour too! I have recommended her to several friends and I am looking forward to my next appointment!

Ok, let me start by saying I`m the biggest hair salon skeptic ever!
BUT...Donna is amazing! A started seeing her a couple of years ago when I was 20. I`ve never been so relaxed while getting my hair done. I always come out with a stylish look that is suited to my hair type and I can actually recreate it. Donna always knows the latest trends. I`ve recommended Donna to all my friends. Her positive attitude is always a pleasure, and she`ll make you feel like you`re her only client.
I would let Donna do whatever she wanted to my hair and I would follow her to any salon in Ottawa.

I wanted to try out a new look but didn't really know what, and also wasn't too happy with the couple of stylists I had tried since moving to Ottawa.  Found Donna's www site and decided on a whim to try her out, so off  I went.  Long story short, the result is FANTASTIC.  The care and creativity she brings to her craft is obvious within a couple of minutes of sitting down in the chair--and the outcome speaks for itself.  Highly highly recommended.  Really exceeded my expectations.

I was once one of those girls who held her hair like a security blanket - never wanting it to change and hoping it would provide comfort forever. The first time I saw Donna, I had ventured downtown with a gift certificate that I won at an auction at an elementary school, while I was dating my future husband in high school. I had no idea what to expect. I just wanted "a little trim", never any layers or bangs, keeping it so safe all the time. I always went in with my hair in a ponytail, and left with a great blowout, that I could n.e.v.e.r. re-create at home. I was so frustrated. This was just another cut that I hated - just like all the other ones, but I was too scared to go in any other direction with my hair. Donna begged me for years for me to let her "cut" my hair. About 4 or so years later, after I was married, I had had enough. "Just fix it", I said to Donna. "Do whatever you want, but I don't want to look like a boy". I was so scared, but at the same time, I was just so tired of looking tired and plain. I left with the coolest shag, flipped out at the ends and puffed up at the top. It was volume I had never seen in my hair - ever. I didn't even know my hair was capable of doing the things Donna could make it do. 6 years later, I have never loved my hair more. It always looks different each time I style it, and it even looks great after days of unshowered stress from the kids. The best part - it's smooth when I want it to be smooth. It can flip when I want it to flip, and can wave when I want it to wave. The best part - I can do it myself! I've gone to weddings and events with my hair and people always ask me where I went to have it done. And it feels so cool to be able to say that I did it myself!
Donna, it is always a pleasure coming to see you. You've changed my life, and my hair. ;)

Over the years I've tried other hairdressers that were more conveniently located for me, but I always return to Donna because I always get the best hair cut. I've been having my hair cut by Donna for 20 years, and I'm 38 years old. That's a lot of hair cuts, a lot of life transitions, and a lot of laughs together. Donna makes each haircut exciting. Each one if my favourite. And, so I keep going back. What else has she got up her sleeve for my head of hair?

I've received lots of compliments on my hair, and made a number of referrals. The best compliment I received was when I was in labour with my first child. If you can look good in natural childbirth you know you're on to a good thing! Turns out, my hospital nurse also had her hair cut by Donna. She had made a baby blanket for one of Donna's children.

Donna is good with people. Recently, Donna impressed me when she cut my daughter's hair. My 3-year old was not "warm" to the idea of having her hair cut. I almost called to cancel the appointment, thinking it would be pointless. But, Donna turned my daughter around in minutes. She spent time with her gaining her trust, let her be her 3-year old self, and gave her a strong and beautiful cut.

Donna can see beauty in a rough stone. I am amazed how Donna brought my hair back from the "living dead" after I had had two children, and let myself go a bit. Between changing diapers, and feeding babies, my hair priorities kind of slipped a gear. I bet I didn't have my hair cut for 6 months or more. In one hour, Donna turned my hair around. I left her shop feeling taller. My husband took me for Gelato. It was wonderful. Donna had made me and my hair feel fabulous again.
